....Welcome, one and all....
ThyroPhoenix If you have some type of thyroid disorder or thyroid disease (such as hyperthyroid, hypothyroid, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, thyroid cancer, Graves), or perhaps it's a family member. You've come to the right place. If you are seeking answers to questions and a friendly group of folks that have gone through what you are now facing. You've come to the right place.
The Myth of the Phoenix The Phoenix, also known as the Bennu, is a female mythological bird symbolizing immortality, resurrection and life after death. She is the quintessence of rebirth. She rises from the ashes of her own funeral Phyr and begins life anew. When she feels her life nearing it's end she builds a nest using the branches of an oak in the top of a palm tree. In the nest she collects cinnamon, and spikenard, and myrrh. As her life ends the flames begin, as the flames die out, from the ashes rises a new Phoenix, a new life , With the rebirth begins a new cycle of time.
Why Phoenix? There is no other way to describe what regaining control of your life and care of your health can be. Women are not the only ones that suffer from thyroid disorders, men and children are also victims. But male, female, young or old the common link between us all is the loss of the life that we enjoyed before becoming ill. You are
here because you are searching... Join us as we each find what we need to line the nests of our lives and begin our rebirth to a life that is healthy and once again worth living.
We'd like to introduce ourselves, we call ourselves ThyroMusketeers and want to make absolutely, positively sure that you understand our qualifications.....
ThyroGeek I am a mid 40s female, living in Minnesota, USA. I'm not a doctor, I have no ties of any kind to the medical or pharmaceutical community. I am simply a woman that found out that she had a hyperactive thyroid in the early 90s that was pushed into accepting RAI (Radioactive Iodine) as a valid treatment to save my life. I am now Hypothyroid and struggling to cope with the hurdles, trials and tribulations of trying to regain a quality of life that I feel I still deserve. ThyroGeek
aka Topper (Linda) ******** ThyroFeisty Howdy! I am a late 40s female, living in Texas, USA, with Hashimoto's thyroiditis and Hemolytic anemia. I had struggled for years with the symptoms of thyroid disease, and now ,with treatment of using natural thyroid hormones, I am recovering and regaining my sanity, my health , and my mobility! I want to help others to ease their suffering from thyroid disease. Thyroid Disease can and does affect every system in the body---whether it be the skin, the weight, lowered resistance to illness, depression, anxiety, aches and pains, the heart, kidneys, lungs-etc! ThyroFeisty
aka Feisty Wendy After regaining so much of her life with better thyroid care and a better understanding of continuing treatment of thyroid disorders... My 'bestest pard' and friend Wendy, of Waco, Texas, passed away due to a heart attack, on the evening of January 19th, 2006. With the support and encouragement of so many of our friends in our support groups, and online, there is no doubt that the support groups and this website, all started by the two of us, Wendy and I, as a team, will continue. I hope to continue working toward achieving the goals that she and I have been dreaming of and planning for in the three years that we've worked together. Wendy's dreams and passions for thyroid advocacy will live on, even if her body was not able to. Known
to most of us as Feisty Wendy. She will be greatly missed by all those she touched. ThyroGeek

....Why we're here....
We've set up this site with the thought in mind that there are many, many people searching the internet for information for themselves or a loved on and are unsure where to go. There are so many technical websites that provide us with a lot of great information, but information isn't the only thing we seek when first learning to deal with Thyroid Disorders. We can also be very hungry to find folks, like us, that have faced the same issues or may even be going through them now. Here you will find links to a variety of informational sites where you'll be able to find information on thyroid diseases, symptoms, medications and support supplements. You'll
also find
links to a few support
groups that we have found to be very helpful. Exploring Thyroid Disease. Medications, supplements, exercise and group support for those wish to learn more about TD for themselves or a loved one. ******** A Casual Site for members of all the thyroid support groups to visit OT. Open by invitation only. ******** Overcoming
TD (Thyroid Disorder) Metabolism
What do we cover?
We talk about different types of thyroid medications (like Armour, Synthroid, Levothyroxine, Cytomel, Thyrolar, Biothroid, and many others), about supplements (selenium, vitamin C, B vitamins, iron, Omega 3s and more) about reproductive hormones (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone and others) and adrenal fatigue. Some groups focus on topics such as one brand/type of thyroid supplement, fitness and exercise, food/eating plans including reduced carbohydrate and low carb. So, whether you are looking for information on Natural Thyroid Hormone or Synthetic Thyroid supplements.... If you want to find out more about vitamins, minerals and other supplements and how they can help your body become stronger and healthier despite thyroid disorders.... If you are seeking an eating plan or exercise regimen that will help you control your weight or encourage weight loss.... If you are seeking all these things without being pressured to spend money on trying this that or the other thing, just wanting to talk to everyday folks that have already tried what you've been reading about or know someone that has.... If you want to find folks, just like you, that aren't working for some big drug company or clinic or research organization.... You've come to the right place. You'll find links that you can click on that will take you to the home pages of the support groups as well as a bit of a description about each site. The sites are all run by people that have volunteered their time to help others. None of us receive any funding for our projects - we are only in this to help each other. You may find a site that fits exactly what you are looking for, or you may find that several of the sites are very interesting. Whether you choose to join one or ten, you are welcome. There are no fees to join the groups and joining does not require you to write any articles or lengthy descriptions of yourself. You are free to participate at whatever level you are comfortable with and if that means that all you plan to do is read the other posts and join in only those discussions that you choose, that's just fine. The groups are hosted by Yahoo. So you will have to set up a yahoo account and ID to join, but there is no fee for that either.
....Remember....
We do not endorse or promote any products for anyone, we share only our own experiences, observations and research.. We simply wish to share information that we have found.
You will find a Table of Contents button on the top of every page where you can get a quick overview of all the topics that we will be introducing you to. Please bear with us as pages are added or modified, we are doing this all on a voluntary basis. As we find sites or books or whatever that look to be of value we will be adding that information as we go.
...You are welcome here... We hope that you will find things of value... And would be thrilled if you choose to participate. ThyroGeek
aka Topper (Linda)
...all groups strive to provide family friendly atmospheres free of flaming and commercial advertisements - those that choose not to follow these guidelines are not welcome and we respectfully request that you seek your answers elsewhere.... Our groups are meant to be a positive gathering place for those that are striving to learn about their diseases and seek support and friendly, caring companionship in their search...
